Love is Blind’s Lauren and Cameron Welcome Baby Boy and Share His Name
The original Love is Blind favorites Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton are officially parents!
The season 1 stars shared the arrival of their baby boy on October 20. “To God be the GLORY! Our son, Ezra William Hamilton, made his debut October 1st, a little earlier than planned, but perfectly on God’s time,” the couple captioned photos of their new family of three at home and in the hospital.
Later in her caption, Speed-Hamilton opened up about spending a few extra days in the hospital after an “unexpected turn with preeclampsia.” Now home, the whole family has been “taking it slow… healing, resting, and soaking up all the love.”
Ezra, a name of Hebrew and biblical origins, is fitting for the faith-based Hamilton family. A short form of Azaryahu, the name Ezra translates to “Yah helps” in Hebrew and traditionally means “help” or “helper.” The name is rooted in the religious leader Ezra the Scribe, revered for restoring the Jewish community on the foundation of the Torah.
Ezra’s middle name, William, is a tribute to Speed’s father, Bill, who passed away last Christmas. The Hamiltons previously shared their plan to honor him in their son’s name—and even revealed a few baby names that didn’t make the final cut—in [exclusive interview with The Bump](](https://www.thebump.com/news/love-is-blind-lauren-and-cameron-hamilton-pregnancy-advice) earlier this year. In that same conversation, they also teased plans for a “big, emotional” birth announcement (which may have been postponed following their hospital stay), and reflected on their long IVF journey and hopes for parenthood.
The Hamiltons first announced their pregnancy on May 26, captioning a photo of themselves holding a positive pregnancy test: “The moment that changed everything. After 4 years of prayers, patience, and a whole lot of love… seeing the word PREGNANT on our @Clearblue test made it real!” In other photos, the couple is pictured with their sonogram, a pair of baby shoes, and their dogs Sparx and Theo, both sporting Big Brother shirts.
The Hamiltons, who conceived their child through IVF, described seeing a positive pregnancy test after their long journey as a huge relief. “Seeing the word pregnant, it was amazing. We just looked at each other. I fell to my knees and cried," Speed shared with People. “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve literally been trying to get pregnant for four years.”
“I lost my father [at] Christmas of last year,” Speed added. “And so we took this test the end of January, beginning of February, so this was literally light in the darkness. This was like, wow. The spark that my whole family needed. We’ve been trying for a long time.”
“It was a little bittersweet because my dad’s not here physically to be with us, but we know that he’s watching over us. So it was just like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe this.’ We just felt so blessed, so grateful and happy, excited. Then it hit like, ‘We’re going to be parents. Oh my God.’”
Now, with baby Ezra finally here, the Hamiltons are ready to embrace their next chapter as a family of three and maybe share a few parenting tips with fellow Love Is Blind alums. There’s quite the Love is Blind mom and dad village is forming, with new parents Bliss and Zack Goytowski, Alexa and Brennon Lemieux and expectant parents AD Smith and Ollie Sutherland.
