Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd Welcome Baby No. 3

Another baby boy has waltzed into the hearts of Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd!

The professional dancers and Dancing with the Stars favorites shared the arrival of their third child on July 13. “He is officially evicted from his mom and he is so cute,” Chmerkovskiy captioned a photo of himself, Peta and their newborn. “Birth details later but for now we wanted to let you all know that mom and baby are doing perfect, and delivery took around 47 seconds total! Exactly one push!”

As promised, not long after sharing baby no. 3’s arrival, the couple also shared his name, birth details and first close-up. " Milan Maksim Chmerkovskiy," Murgatroyd wrote. “Born 8.48am, 7/12/24, 8 pounds. The fam is complete.”

A name inspired by the fashionable Italian city, Milan, has grown in popularity since the '80s and is now among the top 350 names in the US. This isn’t the first city-based name for the couple either. The duo also named their middle child Rio after welcoming him in June of 2023.

The couple first shared they were unexpectedly expecting in February. “We Are Having A Baby! Yes we know…we just had a baby… haha! This was very unexpected at (4 months postpartum with Rio) but we are sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon,” Murgatroyd shared on Instagram.

In the video accompanying the post, Murgatroyd showed how she told her husband the big news. “Surprising @maksimc on this FaceTime with my two friends secretly filming from different angles made it all the more hilarious,” the Australian-American dancer shared. “It took one hour for me to get the courage to call him and when he wasn’t catching on we all couldn’t stop laughing in the kitchen. I had the “I’m so sick story” the pickle and 2 bottles HAHA! Oh Maks.”

After all the not-so-subtle hints, from mixing up two bottles to suggesting a new place with an extra bedroom, Murgatroyd eventually pulled out three positive pregnancy tests to show an elated Chmerkovisky. “Babe, stop, no way, babe, you’re pregnant,” the new father of three said while tearing up. “Wow babe, I’m so, I’m very happy.”

While Murgatroyd’s back-to-back pregnancies may have been unexpected, the duo were thrilled after a not-so-simple journey to growing their family. “After everything we’ve been through with miscarriages and IVF, we’re beyond blessed and know we are uber lucky for this miracle to happen to us,” they added.

Fellow stars and celebrities sent their congratulations to the couple. “BEST yet hardest secret to keep!!! Cannot wait for another BABY!” wrote Jenna Johnson Chmerkovisky. “OMG WHAT!!! This is incredible!” added Amanda Kloots. Dancing with the Stars family members from Cheryl Burke to Lele Pons and Keo Motsepe also sent their congratulations.

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy met in 2009 on Broadway and began dating in 2012 after crossing paths on Dancing with The Stars. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Shai, ahead of their wedding in 2017 and their son Rio in June 2023.
